MettaData: Food Insecurity in PG
In order to write about or construct an argument for community gardens that are reflective of our community, that advance the cause of food equity, we need to understand who the extent of the need for this type of resource. Community gardens have the potential to be vital sources of food for people who really need it, but they also have the potential to become major sites of white privilege and supremacy if they are not managed properly, and if there is not a concerted effort to make sure that the land is equitably accessed, distributed, used, or tended.
